Intercom on Onboarding by Intercom— Another playbook by Intercom. As Intercom is a user onboarding product, so you can be assured that they know what they are talking about
6 User Onboarding Flows by CXL — The post starts with
“There’s a popular user experience quote: “A user interface is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it’s not that good.” While clever, that statement is far from true.”
A very strong start gives you a sense that this post is going to be good. It also gives you a good sense of how to study the onboarding flows of different products and learn from them.

The Design of Everyday Things by Don Norman: To be good at Onboarding, it’s vital to understand the fundamentals of design. This is the definitive book on UX design fundamentals.
Subscribed: Why the Subscription Model Will Be Your Company's Future - and What to Do About It by Tien Tzuo: Studying subscription businesses is a masterclass in retention because you keep seeing user behavior and preferences month on month.
The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses- The lean startup is one of the cult books around product development. It explains the importance of testing your product with users early on and building based on those insights. The methods discussed in this book can help you build the right product for the right audience.
